VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) — Neuropeptide for Neuroimmunology Research

VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) is a 28-amino acid neuropeptide belonging to the glucagon/secretin superfamily that was first isolated from porcine intestinal tissue and has since been identified as a widely distributed signaling molecule in both the central and peripheral nervous systems. In research applications, VIP serves as a pharmacological tool for investigating the VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptor signaling pathways, both of which are class B G protein-coupled receptors that signal predominantly through Gs-mediated cAMP production in target cells.
